How To Get A Flat Stomach
A flat stomach is part of the American Dream these days. Chances are good that if you are reading this, you have not yet achieved that milestone of fitness. Well, the good news is that learning how to flatten your stomach is easy; the bad news is that doing it is hard.
The first thing you must do to get your flat abs is diet. Fat intake must be reduced if you want any chance at all of getting rid of your belly. It’s kind of like spending more money than you earn, except that in the case of fat, its’ a good thing. A diet that is lower in fat, carbohydrates and cholesterol is an absolute necessity in combating belly fat. Skip the fast food restaurant and make your own meals for a little while. If you don’t have time to cook every night, spend one day a week making healthy dinners for the whole week and freeze them. Believe it or not, many healthy recipes can be made in less than twenty minutes from a bare minimum of ingredients.
Once you get a nice, low fat, low carb, low cholesterol diet started, you should start exercising. Cardiovascular workouts are great for burning fat, especially around the midsection. Traditional abdominal strength exercises are also useful, but should be done carefully to avoid bulking up. Crunches work well, but make sure that you include a full range of motion with only a little resistance so the muscles are toned rather than built.
No diet and exercise regimen will be successful if you don’t deep it up. Maintenance is key to achieving your goal of a flat belly. Even after you’ve lost all that weight and toned those muscles, you must stay on the healthy diet and exercise program. Many people believe that once they’ve achieved their goal, they can sit back and relax, and to some extent, this is true. You might be able to go for a day or so without exercising, but every day you slack makes it harder to get back on the wagon. It’s the same way with eating. A day or two of making poor food choices will make you regret it. Your body knows what it needs, and it will tell you.
This all seems simple to do, but it is not. Only with hard work and dedication can anyone flatten their tummy. Treat it as if it was any kind of self-improvement program. Make the workouts a habit, and only buy healthy food at the grocery store. If you surround yourself with like-minded people, you have a greater chance of success. Stay on track and you will like the results.
